HADC Reflection

As a part of the HADC workshop I was able to present on the storymap I made for a final project in ARH-295 Haitian Art and Visual Culture. I decided to make my presentation less about the research topic and more about the process of making it, as I felt that that would be more valuable to the scholars visiting. I enjoyed looking back and seeing the choices I made in the storymap in order to produce an effective digital exhibition, and I like that I can use this experience to think about other digital projects I might have in the future. Overall, this experience has shown me how powerful digital projects can be. So many people united over the HADC and came to Iowa to discuss the project and building a digital lakou. The scope of the project can be hard to gauge when it is just a website on a screen, so I was so thankful to be able to see how many people were involved with the project. I also found it an amazing learning experience to hear about Haitian art from people who have been studying/making it their whole lives.
