Consider some of the reflection questions embedded in the training. For example, what do you notice about the data and how it could be mapped? What do you notice about your visualization as you change its drawing style and customize its appearance?

I notice that there are so many different ways of mapping data, even for data that I wouldn’t think of mapping (ex: # of household members). I think it is interesting to see how much data can be linked to a spatial location.

I notice that as I change the drawing style and customize the appearance of the map I need to remember that the map should be legible while zoomed in to a specific location and also while zoomed out. I do not often work with systems that have such drastic differences when it comes to how the visualization will be viewed, so this was something to get used to.

How would you feel about helping someone else learn how to use ArcGIS Online? What did you find most interesting? What did you find most frustrating? What questions do you still have, and what parts of the tool do you want to explore more deeply?

I feel good about helping someone else learn how to use ArcGIS Online because the training was thorough and because ArcGIS is set up in a way that is pretty self-explanatory. I found all the different ways that attributes could be visualized very interesting. I think the most frustrating thing about ArcGIS is that, when you add a layer from a file, certain changes require you to make changes in the file. It would be very convenient if you could make changes to the map without having to go into the file and re-upload it. I don’t have any further questions, but I am excited to continue working with ArcGIS for the HADC, and I wonder how many ways the HADC data can be visualized on a map.
